Women’s tennis conference winning streak now at 21

The Skyhawks women’s tennis team knocked off Eastern Kentucky 5-2 Sunday afternoon in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Skyhawk Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Skyhawk women have won nine consecutive OVC matches this year and have now won 21 consecutive matches against OVC schools since the 2005 season.
The Skyhawks won the doubles point against Eastern Kentucky with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Katrina Domela and Sara Leavy won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Elizma Schoonees and Ernestine Koornhof won 8-0 at No. 3.
In singles action, Leavy won 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 at No. 2. Schoonees won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, while Amber Garza won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Koornhof claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The Skyhawk women are 13-2 overall and 9-0 in the OVC. The women returned to action Monday, April 17 when they hosted Tennessee Tech at the Skyhawk Tennis Complex.
