Williamson, Beckwith and Romero senior art exhibit currently on display in Fine Arts Gallery

Students and UTM faculty gathered for the opening of JR Williamson, Marshall Romero and Danielle Beckwith’s senior art exhibit, which began at 5 p.m. on Tues., April 5, 2005, in the gallery of the Fine Arts Building.

Williamson, a senior from Jackson, Tenn., chose as his favorite piece, “Sweet Melissa.” This is an illustration of a digital portraiture, which is described by Williamson as “painting on the computer.” Williamson said that he was inspired by his art history classes and by individual artists, William Branson and Jackson Pollock.

In the future, JR plans to build his own business doing digital portraiture. “I always give God the glory for the gifts and talents that He has given to me,” said Williamson.

“JR Williamson’s work is the most fantastic work I have ever seen in my entire life,” said Joel Malin, a junior Music major from South Fulton.

Showcasing artwork along with Williamson, was Marshall Romero, a senior from Breaux Bridge, La. Romero’s favorite piece was entitled “Are You Scared?” This is a poster that he created using his creative talents.

Romero first came to UTM with plans of becoming a photographer, but now hopes to work in advertising in the future.

Danielle Beckwith, a senior from Washington, Ill., has artwork on exhibit as well. Beckwith’s favorite piece is entitled “Oceanview,” a painting that she created.

Beckwith says that high school art teachers were her inspiration for majoring in Graphic Design. She plans to further her career in the Graphic Design field.

The art exhibit will continue to be on display for the next two weeks in the fine arts building.
