Where is benefit from rising technology fee?

I am a senior in Management in the School of Business, which requires that I use the internet for virtually all of my classes. This would be fine and dandy if the internet worked! I came in today and tried without any success to log onto my class website, www.capsim.com. The entire class hinges on internet access, which I am not being given. The server is continually “down,” and when it is "up" it it is painfully slow and impractical. Yet, when tuition increases so too does the technology fee. What is being done with that money? If a student goes to UTM for four years, at two semesters per year they pay well over $3,200 in "technology fees". With that kind of money a student should have their own computer with a reliable, accountable internet provider. Not this crap that we have now, it is worse than a dial-up connection. I would wager that the bulk of the money is spent on ill-advised projects such as flat screens at terminals in the library that are rarely ever used. The situation is out of hand - as a student paying hard-earned money I think that we should have better internet access, and it should be dependable, end of story.
