The Skyhawk volleyball team was unable to edge Ohio Valley Conference foes Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri this past weekend.

With the two losses, the Skyhawks end the season with a 10-17 overall record and a 7-9 OVC won-loss total.

The Skyhawks lose only two seniors from this year’s squad, Diane Foster and Leigh Reiniche.

Eastern Illinois downed UT Martin 30-28 in game one, 30-19 in game two and 30-25 in the final game to win the match.

The Skyhawks had higher hopes heading into the match against Southeast Missouri, as UTM defeated the Otahkians 3-0 in their previous meeting. However, SEMO was able to come up with the win in four games. The Otahkians took game one 30-24.

The Skyhawks retaliated with a commanding 30-22 win in game two. SEMO sealed the win with two 30-26 victories in games three and four.

A win over SEMO would have earned the Skyhawks a berth in the OVC tournament.

The Skyhawks finished seventh in the conference race, while only the top six teams advance to the OVC tournament.
