UTM to host upcoming Working Women’s Conference

West Star’s 7th annual Working Women’s Conference will be hosted by UTM in the University Center. The conference formed as an original idea of the West Star class of 1998, and is put on every year by alumni. This year’s theme is “The Balancing Act of Juggling Life’s Many Roles” and will touch on many important topics, such as success in business, health, preparing for financial security and finding the balance between work, marriage and parenting.

Virginia Grimes, the West Star coordinator at UTM, says that the conference “Opens us up to meeting people at different levels”, and that there will be something of significance for people of every working profession. “The objective is to try and pick a topic all women face day to day”, says Grimes. “From secretary to CEO, there is something for everybody.”

West Star was created in 1989 to help individuals residing in West Tennessee to reach their full potential as leaders.

While the conference is directed towards working women, both men and women are invited to attend.

The conference will be held on Feb 10 from 8:30 am to 2 pm. The registration fee is $35 per person, or two for $60. Cost for UTM students is $15, which covers the cost of the lunch.

To register for the conference, e-mail Virginia Grimes at vgrimes@utm.edu.
