UTM Piano Ensemble: To present international music

The UTM Piano Ensemble will present its fall concert on Thursday evening, at 8:00 p.m., November 18. The program will be performed in the Harriet Fulton Theater on the UTM campus. This event is free and open to the public.
In keeping with UTM’s observance of International Education Week, the evening’s music represents different countries. Among the pieces performed for one and two pianos will be Spanish Dance by Moszkowski, Jamaican Rumba by Benjamin, Reflections of Germany by Schmitt, Lindaraja by Debussy, Country Gardens by Grainger, and Fantasias on American Folk Tunes by Townsend. The finale will be a five piano presentation of Vandall’s arrangement of America the Beautiful.
UTM piano students performing include, Megan Beam, Rachel Cook, Crystal Crockett, Linda Farmer, Valerie Sanderson, Jason Stout and Hana Umehara. Guests for the evening are four area high school students from the studios of Betty Cooper of Dyersburg, Bill Kelly of Gates and Elaine Harriss of Martin. High school students performing are Bethany Chapman, Matthew Hollingsworth and Michael McGehee, all of Dyersburg, and Andrew Moore of South Fulton. The Piano Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Elaine Harriss, Associate Professor of Music.
