UTM baseball player earns All-American Honor

Bryant Jones becomes first Skyhawk to earn NCAA Division-I All-American Honors

Skyhawk second baseman Bryant Jones was recently named Honorable Mention to the All-American list by CollegeBaseballInsider.com.

The senior from Waddy, Ky., racked up the highest batting average for a UTM player ever, with a .425, which ranked among the top in the nation. He also had a league high 96 hits, 55 runs and 33 RBI's on the season.

Jones also had 32 multi-hit games with 13 doubles and 6 homers during his first team All-OVC season. He went 18-21 in stolen base attempts and had slugging and on base percentages of .588 and .472, respectively.

The senior Skyhawk also set school career records for most games played (191), most at-bats (651) and most hits (218), and new single-season records for most hits (96), at-bats (226) and total bases (133).

The last All-Americans to come from the UTM baseball program were Don Jackson, a 1973 first team member, and Richard Craven, a 1985 second team member. These players were named when UTM was still in the NCAA Division-II Gulf South Conference.
