Taiwan is located in Eastern Asia and lies in the Pacific Ocean. The land area of Taiwan is 36,000 square kilometers, which is about the size of New Jersey. Taipei, located at the northern part of Taiwan, is the capital. It is the center of politics and economy. The population of Taipei is roughly about 4 million people. Taipei is good for shopping. If you visit Taipei, you don’t want to miss the new opening of the tallest building in the world Taipei 101. It is 101 stories tall and contains a wide variety of clothing.
On the other hand, if you enjoy culture and history, Taichang, located in central Taiwan, is the best place to be. It offers energy, excitment and is filled with enthustic religious festivities such as the International Dajia Mazu Festival. It is an eight-day, seven-night celebration in honor of Mazu, the Taiwanese God. During the journey, sixty temples will be visited and blessed.
If the religious festivities are too much for you, there is a small town just south of Taichung called Lugan for you to visit. This town provides a lot of traditional architecture and handicraft trades.
