Speaker will weigh in on computer security vs. privacy

Michael Angelo, the holder of more than 40 patents, will speak on “Security and Privacy” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 10, in Watkins Auditorium.

Angelo is a senior intellectual property architect at Net IQ in Houston and former security manager for Microsoft Corporation. He is extremely active in the security community and has participated in numerous international advisory councils.

The presentation is sponsored by Honors Programs and Sigma Xi at UTM. It is free and open to the public.

As well as being the final speaker in the current Academic Speakers Series, Angelo is the 2006 Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecturer and spring banquet speaker.

“We viewed Mr. Angelo’s topic as a very timely one in this age of security questions, though the timing can hardly be better with the current controversy over the Bush administration’s policies concerning privacy issues,” said Dr. Dan McDonough, director of the Honors Program and University Scholars.

“Mr. Angelo’s lecture should be very interesting, topical and timely.“ The Academic Speakers Series annually brings distinguished scholars, writers and performers to the UTM campus. All lectures are free and open to the public.
