Soccer drops pair of conference matches to SEMO, Eastern Illinois
Skyhawks’ chances of earning spot in OVC tourney looking grim

The Skyhawk soccer team will return home this weekend to close out its 2004 Ohio Valley Conference season with two matches.
The Skyhawks will host Austin Peay at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 and Tennessee Tech at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24.
The bad news is the Skyhawks are 0-6 in OVC play and have just a glimmer of hope of earning a berth in the postseason tournament.
Austin Peay and Tennessee-Martin entered Sunday’s matches with 0-5 won-loss records and no points. Austin Peay gained an advantage in the standings by battling Jacksonville State to a 1-1 tie.
The tie earned Austin Peay one point.
The Skyhawks suffered a 1-0 loss to host Southeast Missouri State Friday afternoon and then dropped a 3-1 decision Sunday afternoon to host Eastern Illinois.
Southeast Missouri’s Molli Beard scored the only goal in the match when she made a penalty kick at the 77:20 mark. SEMO out shot the Skyhawks 14-2 in the match.
After a scoreless first half, Eastern Illinois out scored Tennessee-Martin 3-1.
Eastern Illinois used goals from Sharyne Connell, Michelle Steinhaus and Kathleen Hayes to beat Tennessee-Martin. Down 2-0, the Skyhawks got a goal from Jamie Price at the 61:06 mark.
Price scored on a header from the right post. She used an assist from Katie Behrens.
The goal was Price’s second of the season and Behrens’ second assist of the season.
