Do you bleed orange AND blue? A new organization on campus is asking you to prove it.
Skyhawk Nation has finally arrived on campus and is looking for students to help cheer on our athletes.
Starting Dec. 1, students will be asked to join Skyhawk Nation by attending the men’s home basketball game against Arkansas State. An informative pep rally will be held at 5:30 on Thursday in the Skyhawk Fieldhouse.
All students are encouraged to attend and to wear black t-shirts. Prizes, including free food and free Skyhawk basketball T-shirts will be given away to select fans and to winners of games that will be played at the rally.
A designated student section will be roped off at every home basketball game from now on.
Offical Skyhawk Nation T-Shirts will be printed and given to members free of charge hopefully before Saturday’s game and possibly as soon as Thursday.
The shirts will be black with the Skyhawk Nation logo on the front and the “Skyhawk Nation’s Ten Commandments” on the back.
Several promotions will include the M&M (Mike Munkel) Fan of the Game, Fan of the Year and Organization of the Year.
Other promotions, including a free book scholarships are being worked on.
Also, a point system is in the words for the various greek organizations on campus.
Skyhawk Nation is looking for the loudest, wildest superfans to help cheer on our athletes and to get in the head of our opponents. So if you know it’s UTM and you love it, love it, love it, then come out and get loud with the Nation.
