Simpson, Jacobsen, Student art exhibit becomes eye candy

Brent Simpson and Jennifer Jacobsen presented their senior art exhibit in the Fine Arts Building Tuesday night. Both students displayed designs that they compiled over the last 4-5 years. They both included graphic designs and hand sketch art in their exhibits. Jacobsen, comprised several graphic designs she composed during an internship with the Nashville Predators, and Simpson, comprised several hand sketch drawings he had given as gifts to friends and family.

The show incorporated a Halloween theme and many visitors attended in costume. The Fine Arts Gallery was decorated with orange and black balloons and streamers. The array of food was fantastic offering spinach dip, meat and cheese cubes, a vegetable platter, punch with dried ice vapor rising from it and much more. The lit pumpkin candles on the table gave the spread an inviting touch.

“I really enjoyed the show” said Rebecca Whitworth, graphic design major. “They show their talent in hand drawing as well as computer graphics.”

Berry Simpson, Brent’s father said, “It’s amazing what a person can do when they apply their natural talents to a project whether it’s marketing, advertising or anything else.”

Jennifer’s 4-year-old son Cameron said he was proud of his mommy. Jacobsen, who interned with the Nashville Predator’s included in her exhibit many of the graphic design projects she composed for them.

Jennifer will graduate in December and has already been offered a job with the Nashville Predators as soon as the hockey strike ends. Simpson will graduate in May and is currently deciding between several lucrative job offers.
