See Yourself in the Paint combines the talents of seniors Kristen Davis and Jayme-Leigh Hobbs, displaying the hard work that they’ve put into their art over the past four years.
“I’m relieved to finally have it completed and showcased,” says Davis, a Studio Art major from White House, Tenn.
“We had a professor come through and say that this is the best art show they’ve seen in eight years,” said Hobbs, a Studio Art major from Southaven, Miss. “People have enjoyed everything from the color to the subject.”
Some of their pieces included a group of painted boxes called the Inspiration Stack. These portraits were of people in their lives and artists that had inspired them. Old TVs made up the exhibit known as Static, which was used to try and draw people away from reality shows and back to reality.
Dr. Carol Eckert, the girls’ Art History instructor, calls the show, “Superb. A lot of work has gone into this and it shows.”
After graduation, both plan to attend graduate school. Just by looking on the walls, their love for art is evident.
After four years, it’s their time to shine. Their work is currently on display in the Fine Arts building.
“The works on these walls are my life and what I am,” says Hobbs of her art. “This is what I do.”
