It's a new week and already I have been bombarded with my prediction of Carolina in the Super Bowl. Well, that's how I see it. Now, let's see if I am right.
Moving on a new week and plenty of additions to the UTM football team. New coaches? After one season?
Well, I guess they have to do something. Please Matt Griffin, win more games next year so the Schmo-man can make some bank with the bookie.
Another exciting week as UTM men's tennis kicked off as well as the rifle team season. I only have one problem: I'm not a big fan of non-contact sports.
Now let the rifle team practice shooting tennis balls during the tennis team's games, and I'd be hooked.
In basketball, the men stopped a five-game skid and have won two in a row. Way to go guys. Keep it up. The women's team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime. Hey ladies, it happens.
In paper news, I was finally granted an assistant sports Editor: Amy Eddings. She is awesome. You should see vast improvements in the sports section, not just in average cup size either.
In college news, a Boulder District Attorney has accused the University of Colorado of luring recruits to their university with "sex parties."
What is this guy's point? Since when have depraved orgies been discouraged as part of college life? I think that they were just trying to display to them what college life has to offer.
In Division I basketball, the Lady Vols are ranked number one by ESPN. Well don't worry. All you Vol fans know that they will choke eventually, just like every other Vols team no matter what the sport. Choking is an art that UT has mastered over the years. I expect no less this season.
In pro-football, Super Bowl tickets have gotten to the point that the average family can not even afford to go to the game.
Come on people, I know you do this for a living, but how much do you really have to make. Is it not bad enough that most of the kids who dream about becoming athletes can't afford admission to the games. Stop being so darned greedy. Is it not bad enough that pro-athletes teach kids about the wonders of drugs, prostitution, abuse, and many other off-field activities that they have to add greed.
The owners are just as bad as well. It is just getting out of control in all pro-sports. Well, except like international luge competitions.
But seriously, who cares about that. And what the heck do you need a two-man luge competition for? Can we get anymore desperate for entertainment?
That also brings up another point that happens every year at Super Bowl time. Drunk driving. Please for the love of God, do not do it.
Everyone like to have fun at a Super Bowl party, so do I. Be responsible, get a DD, call a friend, please don't be stupid. Well, it looks like that will be it for this week. I know, my column is not as good as last week’s, but hey, it’s late and I’m tired.
Welcome aboard, Amy. C-ya.
