SAW is a horror film that keeps you wondering who the killer is. Though you think you may know at many times throughout the movie, I doubt anyone would guess right.
Leigh Whannel plays the role of Adam, a young man chained to a pipe inside an unknown chamber. Chained to the other side of the room is a doctor by the name of Lawerence Gordon (Cary Elwes). The two find a body lying between them with a tape recorder in one hand and a gun in the other. Neither are aware of why or how they got there. The only pieces of evidence they have in figuring out who is behind this bizarre situation are cassette tapes in each of their pockets. They must find a way to retrieve the tape player in order to explain their abduction.
While trapped in the dark chamber, Dr. Gordon’s wife Alison, played by Monica Potter, and their daughter remain confused as well. They find themselves tied to a bedpost with a gun against their head.
From here, the story unfolds into an edge of your seat thriller. Be prepared to turn your head and plug your ears at times if you plan to see this movie. The suspense keeps you interested; however scenes throughout this movie can be very disturbing.
Surprisingly, I thought this movie was pretty good, although the two main actors, Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes were horrible. Danny Glover did a great job playing the role of the homicide detective. This thriller will leave you feeling faint at times, but overall would be a must see for horror film lovers.
I would give this film 3 out of 5 stars, simply because the acting was horrific. Those two ruined the film’s potential with their soap opera like performances.
