As I’m sitting up in the Pacer office with no cable, the AL and NL Championship series are going on.
I’ve never realized just how dependent on television I was when it came to sports.
When I’m writing about the Skyhawks, I’ve got the internet to rely on hence the fact that UTM is hardly ever on TV.
Catching the football score on the ticker on the bottom of the ESPN screen is about as much coverage as UTM ever gets. Maybe we need more. Maybe if we could get a game or two televised we could get some more support. It would get the UTM name out there and get the university more exposure. Maybe more players would be interested in coming here if they knew that they would be on television.
I know that WLJT does a good job of replaying the football games, but what about everything else?
Have any of the female sports ever been televised? I’m really asking here. I have no idea.
When I’m in Paducah for a weekend, I have a hard time finding out what’s going on in the world of Skyhawk sports. WPSD and the Paducah Sun do not do a good job of covering the OVC outside of Murray State and SEMO.
It pisses me off that a city only 50 minutes away can’t find a way to cover Division I athletics from a university just as close if not closer than the ones that they actually do cover.
We have several teams on this campus that are consistently better than MSU.
I’m ashamed that my hometown can’t find a way to get our scores in the local paper.
I’m as big of a Wildcats fan as anyone on the planet, but in terms of distance, UTM is more of a home team to Paducah than UK is. So, since no one else says it: GO SKYHAWKS!!!
