OVC honors UTM athletes for their achievements on and off the field

UTM received a league- high 11 Ohio Valley Conference Medals of Honor. In all, 84 student-athletes from 18 sports received OVC Medals of Honor.
The Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athlete who achieves the highest grade point average in a conference-sponsored sport.
All 84 of the student-athletes who earned a medal achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Eastern Illinois, Morehead State and UTM tied with a league-high 11 Medal of Honor recipients apiece.
The UTM Medal of Honor recipients were Zach Parham (baseball); Jenny Lannom (women’s basketball); Kimberly VanWinkle (women’s cross country); Rachel Callahan and Lindsey Tilk (women’s soccer); Meagen Sturdivant, Kelly Swafford (softball); and Maribeth Hanneman, Krissy Neumann and Kirsten Thompson (volleyball).
UTM also had 81 student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In all 844 student-athletes from the conference were named to the 2003-04 honor roll.
To be listed, recipients must have achieved at least a 3.25 grade point average and have been eligible and on the team throughout the competitive season in their chosen NCAA-sponsored sport or sports.
