UTM justified in sponsoring ‘Writing on the Wall’ project

I made a special trip past the UC to see just exactly what everyone had been talking about.

I read in the last Pacer that some students had been upset by the display. I’d like to offer my own opinion.

I think this “Wall of Hate” is one of the greatest things I have ever seen UTM sponsor. Sure, some of the language on the wall is offensive, but that’s the point.

UTM has actually made a physical representation of the hatred of human behavior.

Like it or not, we have all heard most of the terms on the wall at some point in our lives. To those who opposed the Wall, I have to wonder why.

Here on our campus we have brought to life the very things that people try so hard to hide.

People want to pretend this kind of hatred doesn’t exist, but let’s get real, we all know it does.

Of course we are not all a part OK the KKK or any other hate organization, but I would be willing to bet that at some point in most all of our lives, we have all made a degrading statement, even if it were said only as a joke.

I think this Wall of Hate is one of the greatest things I have ever seen.

I applaud the University for standing by its decision to sponsor it.

If we refuse to see the hatred in our society, how are we ever supposed to fix it?

Thanks to campus community I would like to thank all the UTM students who stopped to help when Snickers was hit by a car.

I apologize for not getting your names so I could thank you individually, but I was too distraught.

A special thank you goes to the Public Safety officers who stopped to direct traffic and to locate a veterinarian.

I appreciate the help, kindness and concern shown by all of you.
