Student wants more coverage on concert

I really hope that The Pacer fixes the article about the concert on Sept. 17. I feel like it was a bit short for such international celebrities to come to such a small and little-known school.

I understand that there were issues surrounding the actual article, but now that that’s over and resolved, maybe you all could redo the story. The names and the captions were wrong in the article, which does not reflect the level of professionalism that I expected from The Pacer. I have seen journalists retract statements and issue “Oops ... We’ve made a mistake” articles to correct any fallacies that occurred in the article.

I feel like The Pacer owes its readers, as well as the artists who came to perform at Martin, something more than the seven-paragraph story that they were given. I know that there was so much more that The Pacer could have touched on in regard to the concert – such as the shirt throwing, free CD giveaways, and the overall energy of the performers.

The job of the media is to report on events that affect the lives of the readers. This concert affected SO many people! I just feel that a great disservice has been done by not reporting on the concert comprehensively, and I hope The Pacer decides to re-cover its journalistic tracks.
