Union City’s too inconvenient; build a Supercenter in Martin

Of all the businesses in Martin, there needs to be one more to make life more convenient.
Martin needs a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Seriously, have you ever taken the time to realize how often you go shopping in Martin? Especially for those of us living off campus, it’s likely to be a weekly event.
The problem with this is, in order for me to get all my shopping done in Martin, I have to take the time out to park and walk around Wal-Mart, and then make the trip into EW James.
For those of us with less than adequate amounts of time already, this makes things hectic.
The other option is to drive 15 minutes to Union City to do all your shopping at the Supercenter, but again most of us have time constraints because of classes, work, extracurriculars and other things. I think the best solution would be for our Wal-Mart to gradually add on taking up the land on either side of it, and eventually turn into a supercenter.
Having a supercenter in Martin would help the town tremendously. It would add more jobs and would also give students something to do in the middle of the night instead of trekking down Highway 22 to Union City.
Acquiring the land and the building may take some time but I’m just looking out for future generations of UTM students.
Treat it just like the lottery. Many UTM students are not eligible for the scholarships but that didn’t stop many college students voting to help Tennessee acquire a lottery.
Sure, I might not be here to enjoy the change, but the residents of Martin would no longer have to drive those 15 minutes to get to Union City to do their shopping.
