If you’re looking for the ideal date movie, Hitch is the movie for you.

This upbeat romantic comedy, starring Will Smith as Alex “Hitch” Hitchens and Kevin James as Albert Brennaman will make you laugh out loud and leave the theater with a smile.

Smith plays the comedic role of a professional matchmaker in New York City who helps desperate men woo the women of their dreams. In the aggressive dating scene of New York City, your average lonely guy needs skilled counseling. This is where Hitch comes in. He understands women and how to get their attention. It also appears that he is paid big bucks to share his talent and teach others.

James, an overweight accountant, falls for actress Amber Valletta, who plays the role of client Allegra Cole, an untouchable heiress whom every man in New York wants to date since her recent breakup. This seems out of reach for James even with the help of the famous date doctor.

Smith steps in to train the less than coordinated, shy James in an effort to help him become more confident and win the heart of Valletta. The training scenes between Smith and James are absolutely hilarious.

In addition, Smith is running all over the city helping lonely New Yorkers find love and winds up meeting and falling for gossip columnist, Sara Milas, played by the fabulous Eva Mendes.

Meanwhile, Milas, who is secretly falling for Smith, is busy investigating the faceless and nameless date doctor of New York who is responsible for her best friends broken heart.

Unaware of her new love interest’s real job, Milas discovers the truth and becomes totally devastated. She then must decide to blow his cover by revealing the truth in her gossip column or keep it a secret.

From here on, the movie begins to unfold. It is definitely a must-see in my opinion. I thought the acting in this movie was outstanding. Will Smith and Eva Mendes have great on screen chemistry and, oddly, so do Kevin James and Amber Valletta.
