- Section: Features
Welcome to UTM and another great year. I am the new Arts and Entertainment Editor for The Pacer this year and I look forward to serving you in any way that I can. This means that if you would like to see certain Arts and Entertainment related features and stories, just e-mail me and let me know. You may contact me through The Pacer at pacer_features@mars.utm.edu.
Also keep in mind that if you have a great idea for a story, write it and submit it to me here at The Pacer as well. All majors are invited to submit. You may think that you have nothing to write about, but contraire, you do! Perhaps you travel to your hometown and see a great play. Write a review of the evening and of the performance and submit it. Everyone would love to hear about it. Or you may go to New York on vacation and you may see a Broadway play. Write a review or a story of your experience and your honest (be nice) perceptions of the play and submit it. We are also taking submissions of museum art exhibits, reviews of good books, poems and short stories. If you read a poem that you like, classic or new, submit a critique of it. Perhaps you attend a concert, either on campus, in Martin, Jackson or Memphis, send us a full report. We are taking submissions in all venues of music from hip-hop to reggae to classical to rock and, yes, even country. If you like it, write about it and others will want to read about it. I am also taking submissions of feature articles in all related areas of the Arts and Entertainment world.
Now let’s talk about television. If you have a favorite television show, irreverent or not, just write a story and submit it.
In addition, this year I will be requesting student poetry and short, short story submissions for a UTM Creative Corner. I will also be requesting Quotable Quotes from your favorite teacher (with permission, of course), from a famous person or any quote that you find inspiring.
As always, when submitting, please include your name, hometown, classification and major. Without it, we cannot accept the submission.
Have a great year and if I can serve you in any way, just let me know. And submit, submit, submit!
