BSA puts on a ‘wild’ show

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, B.S.A. presented “Wild ‘N Out in Watkins”, and man was this show wild. The show began with BSA president Melanie Turner, donned in an ugly purple floral print housecoat and an afro-centric wig, performing a parody of the late 80’s classic movie “Lean on Me.” She and her rowdy choir prepared the audience for the show in store and immediately received their participation. And with laughter in the air the show began.

For those that aren’t familiar with the MTV show “Nick Canon presents Wild ‘N Out,” it is an improv show based on two teams that battle for points which are earned by performing various improv acts. The games are given by the DJ/co-host and topics are shouted at random by audience members. “Wild ‘N Out in Watkins” was very similar to this with the exception that the games and topics were already decided.

Players kept the audience laughing with two “R&Beef” songs in which a topic was given and teams were made to sing about the topic in some form of a love ballad. Team “Grits” was given the topic “stretch marks” and decided to take an R. Kelly hit and turn it in to a stretch mark love song. While team “Facemob” decided to keep it simple with their topic “std” and go for the laughs. Winning the “R&Beef” round was crowd-favorite team “Grits.” Arthaniel “TJ” Bailey added to the excitement by taking off his shirt and proudly displaying his own stretch marks.

The show concluded with the two teams battling lyrically in a game known as “Wildstyle” in which team members stand face-to-face and “check” each other on everything they can possibly think of. The winner of it all was team “Grits”. All in all it was a great show and wonderfully funny.

“I am glad to see that BSA is once again making themselves a power house on campus for students with no Greek affiliation” says UTM Alumni Kera Jenious. “It was nice to see all the students come out to show support for BSA.”

But don’t worry. The entertainment doesn’t stop here. Stay tuned for the next BSA event “Out of Control Dance Off” on November 18.
