Tamara L. Vassey, of Martin, has been hired by UTM as a development coordinator in the department of athletics.
Vassey, formerly of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., will be responsible for coordinating all athletic fund-raising activities, and she will be the primary contact person for current and future Skyhawk Club members.
Before moving to Martin with her husband, Dr. Terry Vassey, a UT Martin professor in agricultural and natural resources, she served as the office manager and web designer assistant at Intercoastal Net Designs.
Vassey brings a combined work experience of sales, marketing and management from several private and resort golf club communities in Atlanta and costal North Carolina.
"Tamara brings a wealth of experience to this position, and I am very pleased she will be joining the Skyhawk athletics teams," said Phil Dane, director of athletics.
"I'm confident that current and prospective Skyhawk Club members will enjoy working with her, and I've already realized she will bring many fresh ideas to this important aspect of our program."
The Vasseys have two sons, Clint (12) and Christopher (17) and a 10-year-old Labrador, named Roswell.
"I am truly excited about this opportunity to work in the athletics department at UT Martin with this dynamic team of staff, coaches and athletes," Vassey said.
"My husband and I have found everyone at UT Martin to be not only willing, but eager to help us get established and settled in . . . and we love it.”
