On Saturday, March 5, the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi traveled to Memphis to join the Fraternal Order of Police in a fun-filled day at the Ronald McDonald House.
The sisters held relay races and an Easter egg hunt and played Ring-Around-The-Rosie and other games with the kids. A few of the girls even lent their artistic talents to the event and did face-painting. ADPi served lunch with the FOP and a few of the kids’ parents to the kids.
“The kids had a blast and the parents were extremely thankful. There was not a dull moment,” said Kelly Grider, a freshman Fine and Performing Arts Major from Mount Juliet, Tenn.
The Ronald McDonald House is home to 51 children and their families year-round. Each of these families has a child who is battling cancer and is receiving treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
At the Ronald McDonald House, families can sleep in a warm bed, take a shower in their private bathroom and prepare and eat meals in a spacious, cheerful kitchen.
The most important feature of the house is the fact that the families can find the support and comfort in others who share the experience of having a very sick child. All families stay free of charge thanks to donation, and most of the staff are volunteers. Since opening in 1991, the House has been a home to more than 1800 families from around the world and continues to grow.
